Best Time to Visit Gangtok: A Season-by-Season Guide (2026)

Timing makes or breaks a trip to Gangtok. Here's a clear, season-by-season breakdown to help you and your clients choose the right window.

Season by season

Spring (March–May) brings clear skies and blooms; autumn (October–December) offers the sharpest Kanchenjunga views; winter (December–February) is cold and can bring snow on the higher excursions.

Planning note

Peak season is March–May and October–December. Monsoon (June–September) is green but landslide-prone on the higher roads.

  • Gateway: Bagdogra Airport (about 4–5 hours by road to Gangtok)
  • Indian nationals need inner-line permits for protected areas such as Tsomgo, Nathula and North Sikkim, which we arrange.
  • We confirm road and weather status before every departure

TripTrix Voyages runs Sikkim year-round with permits handled and hand-picked stays — agents can request net rates for any Sikkim itinerary.
