Meghalaya has two very different faces, and the best time to visit depends on which you want to see.
October to May — clear and easy
The dry season brings pleasant weather, easy trekking and clear views — ideal for the root bridges, Dawki and general sightseeing.
June to September — the great monsoon
As one of the wettest places on Earth, Meghalaya's monsoon turns the waterfalls thunderous and the hills emerald. Drives are slower and trails slippery, but the drama is unmatched.
Our recommendation
For most clients, October–April is the sweet spot; monsoon lovers and photographers should aim for July–August.
- Sightseeing: Oct–April
- Waterfalls at their best: Jun–Sep
- Carry rain gear year-round
- Book root-bridge treks for the dry season
