Best Time to Visit Sikkim: A Season-by-Season Guide

Sikkim rewards travellers all year, but the 'best' season depends on whether your clients want flowers, clear mountain views or snow.

Spring (March–May)

The Yumthang Valley bursts into rhododendron bloom and the weather is pleasant — ideal for North Sikkim and photography.

Autumn & winter (October–February)

October to December offers the clearest Kanchenjunga views. Winter brings snow experiences around Lachung and the Silk Route, though some high passes can close.

Monsoon (June–September)

Landslides can disrupt mountain roads, so we generally advise against high-altitude North Sikkim in peak monsoon.

  • Blooms: March–May
  • Clearest views: Oct–Dec
  • Snow: December–February
  • Avoid North Sikkim in peak monsoon
