Sikkim Photography Guide: Best Spots & Timing

From Kanchenjunga dawns to prayer-flag passes, Sikkim is a photographer's dream. Here's how to plan it well.

The essentials

For photography, shoot Kanchenjunga at first light from Pelling, the zig-zag Silk Route at sunrise, Tsomgo Lake reflections and the vast Gurudongmar plateau.

When to go & getting there

March to May for rhododendrons and clear skies, October to mid-December for the crispest Kanchenjunga views, and December to March for snow around Tsomgo and North Sikkim. Reach via Bagdogra Airport (about 4–5 hours by road to Gangtok).

  • Indian nationals need inner-line permits for protected areas such as Tsomgo, Nathula and North Sikkim, which we arrange.
  • We tailor the pace, stays and inclusions to your clients
  • Net rates on request for the travel trade

TripTrix Voyages runs Sikkim year-round with permits handled and hand-picked stays — agents can request net rates for any Sikkim itinerary.
